The song Peg by Steely Dan was the first song from the Aja (1977) album that became a single.
Did you know?
*the guitar solo is by Jay Graydon on the original cut, and he worked on the final version for over six hours?
*Michael McDonald can be heard as a backup vocal on the chorus?
*that more than likely the song concerns a porn actress by the name Peg, and that a “foreign” movie was another way to describe a porn movie?
*that the song peaked on U.S. charts at #11?
Here is a video that discusses the song’s recordation:
Here are the lyrics:
I've seen your picture
Your name in lights above it
This is your big debut
It's like a dream come true
So won't you smile for the camera
I know they're gonna love it
I like your pin shot
I keep it with your letter
Done up in blueprint blue
It sure looks good on you
And when you smile for the camera
I know I'll love you better
Peg
It will come back to you
Peg
It will come back to you
Then the shutter falls
You see it all in 3-D
It's your favorite foreign movie
